CRARC Committee March update email #Committee_update

The CRARC committee meets on-line on the second Wednesday of the month, to discuss the running of CRARC. This email is an outline of items covered and other topics potentially of interest to CRARC members and is promulgated to keep members aware of what is going on.

On Wednesday 27th Mar 2024 (Wednesday week), the CRARC Annual General Meeting (postponed from February due to insufficient notice for a special resolution) will be held at the club rooms, doors opening 7:30 for an 8pm kickoff. A reminder, we will also be raffling off the remaining three Retevis RT3S 2/70 DMR/Analogue handheld radio packages to financial club members only (for details please see VK1News email of 27 Sep)

Club membership is running well, with 202 financial members. As always, if you have any membership queries, contact Graham on membership@crarc.org.au

The education group ran the first Foundation “Qualification” course for the year – Amanda VK1WX advises that the change of name is because Individual Amateur Operators are no longer are issued with a licence. We now obtain a qualification and callsign that authorises the operator to operate under the Radiocommunications (Amateur Stations) Class licence 2023. This class licence covers all qualified operators. The course went well and all our candidates were successful, congratulations to Emily, Kevin, Luke and Adam and of course a big thanks to the Amanda VK1WX, Wayne VK1WN and Fergus VK1FM for their efforts. The next Foundation course is planned for the weekend of 18/19 May 2024 and Eventbrite bookings should be open shortly. Out of session examinations can still be conducted by arrangement with Amanda and the other members of the education team.

For WICEN, the next event requiring significant assistance from members is the National Capital Rally (aka the Rally of Canberra) which is scheduled to be held 5-7 April 2024. An initial call for volunteers has been sent out already, but we still need quite a few more volunteers – if you are free that weekend, please help us out and come along for an enjoyable time.

At the AGM, several motions will be put forward to the members to be voted on including an amended club objectives.
