CRARC Committee update – September 2023 edition #Committee_update

The CRARC committee meets on-line on the second Wednesday of the month, to discuss the running of CRARC. This email is an outline of items covered and other topics potentially of interest to CRARC members and is promulgated to keep members aware of what is going on.

On Wednesday 27th Sep 2023 (Wednesday week), the CRARC monthly general meeting will be held at the club rooms, doors opening 7:30 for an 8pm kickoff with we hope a presentation on logging programmes.

Club membership is running well, with 170 financial members. If you are unsure if your membership is current then you can check via https://secure.hamclubonline.com/payment.php As always, if you have any membership queries, contact Graham and Carl on membership@crarc.org.au

CRARC maintains a number of Beacons and Repeaters.

On the education front, another Foundation course has been conducted this weekend just gone. The next Foundation course is scheduled November 18/19 and should be open for registration shortly (if not already open). Note that the education team may also conduct upgrade assessments on the Saturday of the course (pending assessor availability and sufficient lead time to order exams) in addition to out of sessions examinations by arrangement with the education team.

For WICEN, the next activity needing support will be the Brookfield Horse Endurance event in mid-October – an enjoyable low intensity event that gets you out into the bush, this would have to be one of the more enjoyable activities that we support. Unfortunately the organisers for the endurance bike ride known as Fitz’s Challenge have decided not to run the event this year but hope to have it running again next year in possibly a revised format. Known activity dates are on the calendar on the club website, so for those WICEN addicts, check the dates and mark them down on your own calendars!

Upgrades and work continues on the shack at the clubrooms with a new to us upgraded computer having been installed and a discone acquired – but yet to be installed. Improvements to the HF antenna are also being investigated. We anticipate the shack will continue to evolve as upgrades and changes are made.

Information on our raffles for the Retevis will be sent out shortly – keep an eye out and of course any questions or queries to the committee email address please.
