DESCRIPTION:Graeme VK1IO reminds us that tech night will be on this coming Wednesday 20 May\, from 6:30pm with coffee\, tea and biscuits as usual and Pizza will be made available for $5.00/slice. \n One member is bringing in a Collins radio and is seeking some assistance to breathe some life back into it.  \nAn Allstar Node and accessories will be configured for those who would like to undertake some practical tuition in this mode of communication.  \nThere will also be some information available regarding our Echolink/IRLP arrangement on Isaacs Ridge. Hopefully it may be operational again soon. \n There will undoubtedly be small groups discussing other topics of interest so please do not hesitate in bringing up any items of Ham Radio that may interest you. \nTech Night is about members coming together informally to discuss subjects and projects relevant to AR and assist members in practical advice and assistance with technical issues that they may have. \nDuring the evening the Radio Room will be operational for all members to utilise.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s General Meeting presentation will be provided by Carl (VK1KCM) on Digital Voice Modes.  This will be an introduction and overview on most of the more common digital voice modes such as D-Star\, DMR\, YSF and NXDN. It will also cover hotspots\, what they are and how to use them. \n\nAs per usual\, Pizza\, Coffee\, Tea and biscuits will be available. A slight change to our normal procedures will be the introduction of a sign-in sheet (where you can mark if you are interested in Pizza or not) so please help us by checking in upon arrival. This will reduce the time taken to order Pizza for those that are interested.\nDoors open at 6.30pm

DESCRIPTION:Foundation Night is coming up on Wednesday 3 June 2026 commencing at 6:30pm. \n\n\nThis evening is aimed primarily at recent Foundation candidates\, although all Foundation members are welcome — especially those who may not yet have fully engaged in the hobby after gaining their qualification. The night is all about helping you get on the air and answering practical questions such as: \n\n\nWhat radio should I buy?\nWhat antenna should I put up?\nHow do I access the repeaters?\nHow do digital modes work?\nPlus more….\n\n\nUnlike the Foundation course\, which is focused on the syllabus and qualification process\, this evening provides an opportunity to explore the practical side of amateur radio in a relaxed environment. \n\n\nAll members are welcome to attend\, particularly those willing to assist newer operators or share equipment\, experiences\, and “show and tell” topics.\nThe previous Foundation Night was well received\, with a good range of demonstrations and discussion from experienced members.\n\nAs usual\, if there is sufficient interest\, pizzas will be available for $5 per plate
