DESCRIPTION:The November meeting is our last scheduled monthly general meeting for the year and as usual we are holding an end of year function to end out the year. Doors open at 7:30pm for an 8pm start. \nComtek Radio\, a new VK online company run by VK6SJ and VK1KAZ will be providing a presentation at the September meeting on the Remote Radio Operations including the FlexRadio range of products.  The Flex range of equipment is being marketed for easy incorporation into remote setups as well as for normal home use.  Comtek Radio’s presentation outlines the FlexRadio range of equipment and provides a demonstration of multi operator\, multi transmitter remote station using FlexRadio  products. We will be show casing our demonstration system in Perth on the night via a Teams session.

Doors open at 7:30pm for an 8pm start \nCRARC Presentation August 2024 – The beginning of 50 years of home computing\nDale Hughes VK1DSH\nIn August 1974 Electronics Australia magazine published the first in a series of articles describing a computer that could be constructed at home. It was the first computer kit in an Australia and only missed being the first in the world by a couple of weeks. The computer was designed by Jamieson Rowe and was called EDUC-8. It was an 8-bit machine built using TTL logic chips alone i.e. no microprocessor\, and general design of EDUC-8 was similar to the DEC PDP-8 minicomputers of the era. Surprisingly there is active group of people building recreations of the original design and a kit of parts is available. \nThe presentation will describe the reasons Jim Rowe designed and published the machine\, the technical details of the machine\, aspects of programing the machine\, its construction and demonstrate a working EDUC-8.

DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nOn the 4th Wednesday of each month\, CRARC hold a General Meeting for members and visitors. \n\n\n\nThe May meeting is planned to provide an opportunity to construct an antenna – at this stage we anticipate it will be the “flowerpot” 2m vertical 1/2 wave Coaxial Dipole (either with a radome or as a rollup construct). \nCRARC will supply cable\, connectors and any other materials for the construction of ‘flower pot’ 2m antennas for those who pre-register for the night (further information to follow including details on registration).  There will be a nominal charge (to be determined)  to cover this cost of materials and we will ask attendees to RSVP nearer the date so we can plan accordingly.  Some specialised tools such as crimp tools and hot air guns will also be available for use on the night\, but basic tools (side cutters etc) should be brought along by attendees. Test equipment such as a VSWR meter or network analyser will also be available for use at the construction nights to check the new builds.

DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\nOn the 4th Wednesday of each month\, CRARC holds a General Meeting for members and visitors. \n\n\n\nThe April meeting will be an opportunity for members to show off antennas to others.  \nWhilst we imagine that most antennas displayed on the night would be of the home brew variety\, if you have any weird\, unusual or just really useful antennas that you think others would be interested in seeing\, please consider bringing them along and let other members see what is available to either make or purchase. \nObviously space is not unlimited\, so please no full size 3 element 80m yagis\, but please have a think about what antennas you have that others may be interested in and if sufficiently portable bring them along and be prepared to show them off and discuss the reasons you use it. \nAs a follow on to this meeting\, we are intending to hold a number of antenna construction nights over the coming months general meetings. At these meetings\, we intend supporting antenna construction sessions for relatively simple antennas that are nonetheless very handy to have in your arsenal of antennas. These sessions will include the “flowerpot” 2m vertical 1/2 wave Coaxial Dipole (either with a radome or as a rollup construct)\, portable multiband “linked dipoles” and small portable 2m or 70cm yagis. If there is sufficient interest\, further antenna construction projects may be adopted and run over additional general meetings or tech nights.
